Annotated Short Stories
Annotated Short Stories es un libro de artista único compuesto por tres piezas interconectadas que exploran la narrativa, la interrupción y la multiplicidad visual a través del dibujo y el bordado. La primera pieza, The Stories, presenta tres historias distintas mediante imágenes dibujadas y bordadas a mano, dispuestas en una secuencia que recuerda el ritmo visual de una novela gráfica. Aunque existe un hilo narrativo subyacente, el artista evita deliberadamente ofrecer un orden claro de lectura. El acto de leer queda abierto—fluctuando entre imágenes, tiempos y asociaciones.
Algunas de las imágenes en The Stories contienen discretas llamadas a pie de página que remiten a la segunda pieza: Annotations. Estas no son aclaraciones textuales, sino dibujos adicionales también bordados a mano, que expanden, contradicen o desestabilizan silenciosamente la narrativa principal. Así, la anotación se convierte en un espacio de matiz, donde el comentario visual desafía la linealidad y la autoridad narrativa. La tercera pieza, The Companion, es una obra bidimensional sobre lino compuesta por rostros bordados, funciona como una última capa: una constelación simbólica y emocional que prolonga las anotaciones y da voz a lo colectivo. En conjunto, las tres partes forman una cartografía fragmentaria pero íntima del relato, donde el sentido no se impone, sino que emerge a través de la acumulación, la tensión y el tacto.

These are not textual explanations but rather additional hand-embroidered drawings that expand, contradict, or quietly destabilize the primary narrative. In this way, annotation becomes a space of nuance, where the visual commentary challenges linearity and authorial control. The third piece, The Companion, is a bidimensional linen work composed of embroidered faces, functions as a final layer—an emotional and symbolic constellation of expressions that extend the annotations into a more abstract, collective voice. Together, the three parts form a fragmented yet intimate cartography of storytelling, where meaning emerges not through closure, but through accumulation, tension, and touch.
