︎︎︎ ¿Acaso podemos afirmar que cuando subrayamos o anotamos un libro estamos escribiendo otro? ¿Qué pasa cuando lo garabateamos? ¿Y esas notas en códigos, esas marcas que afirman o niegan el texto a medida que leemos, no son otro texto, un texto que se empalma al original?
Me puse a pensar sobre el libro como objeto íntimo: ¿cómo preservar el proceso mental que implica la lectura, es decir, el acto personalísimo de pensar, negociar, procesar y hasta rechazar el libro? ¿Los subrayados, las marcas, las notas, son acaso huellas de ese proceso invisible, de ese momento libre y sin concesiones, que es el acto de la lectura? ¿Son esos gestos una nueva escritura que dejamos sobre los libros, pero que la sacralización de la página impresa nos ha obligado a invisibilizar?
“Libros de cabecera” (2018) es una colección de ocho títulos de narrativa, ensayo y poesía mexicana que construyen, cada uno a su modo y en tiempos diferentes, un modelo de representación disidente gay o queer. Estos libros serán intervenidos para tratar de responder a las preguntas anteriores, y particularmente la manera en que nuestras lecturas, nuestras subjetividades, van construyendo nuevos textos, nuevos significados, nuevos imaginarios a medida que leemos: marcas, dibujos, textos al margen, trazos, las muchas formas del trazo que intervienen, interpelan, re-crean la letra escrita.
Para cada uno de los siguientes títulos se creó una portada y contraportada bordada a mano. Cada título tiene una tarjeta de préstamo bibliotecario que irá completándose a medida que cada libro circule y sea intervenido.
